Rep. John Lewis, an American Hero

This is one of America’s heroes, Rep. John Lewis of Atlanta, who was recently accused of being “all talk, talk, talk – no action.” Lewis, who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr…. Lewis, who was seriously injured by Alabama police during a Selma voting rights march in 1965 when he was chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee… Lewis, who was arrested 45 times for his actions on behalf of civil rights.

As a friend of mine posted, I would have so much more respect for the president-elect if he had responded with something more like this instead… “I applaud Rep. Lewis for his bravery a half-century ago in helping African-Americans win freedom in the voting booth. Today, I appeal to him in my effort to help African-Americans trapped in inner-city poverty to gain economic freedom.”
